Today I listened to Episode 80 of Security Now — discussing listener questions. The closing comment was from Paul Fisher, with Hughes in Illinois.

Paul emailed:

…You probably have access to better information than I do. But I thought you might be interested in another data point. The mail servers at our company – Hughes is huge, 35,000+ worldwide users – has a spam rate of, get this, 99.7 percent.

Leo Laporte commented that the statistics on his servers confirm what Hughes is seeing!

Leo: I’m much more like 99.8 or 9 percent. In fact, I think it’s 99.9 percent. It’s awful.
